So much work to do
I think I’ll crack open a beer
the drinking problem that was cool
is just a problem this year.
Carl said that once,
he also stabbed me in hand
but he makes a damn good point about
what it takes to meet someone’s demands.
I bet the city isn’t as lonely
as my girl used to make it out to be
occasionally i catch myself thinking of how it used to be.
Time seemed slower then
I miss not having to rush, worry & sleep
without her next to me.
This is my day off
doing dishes and fighting off
the guilt from doing what i want
instead of schooling as I should
I used to enjoy these empty spots of time
but when you have nothing to fill it in
its just music in a smokey room
with a lonely man that was left alone too soon.

I woke up on my last day at Neuman’s with nothing settled out
back to riding 40 miles a week
continue looking at shitty places to live
I just want to be placed where I can believe that I’m ok
that i’m deserving and valuable or rewarding
without Laney I’m not sure
if anyone agrees on those things about me.
So we make proper use of our time’s technology
we make sure our robots meet appropriately
and all i can do is watch you breathe
connected through the night by a screen
is this how it has to be? wait this is always how it’s been.
